There are plenty of times when I'm feeling BLAH! It is the best way to describe feeling unmotivated, feeling funky, and just flat out not wanting to do anything. It's the perfect escape, where I can satisfy my indulgences immediately of sitting on the couch and watching TV while subconsciously feeling the overwhelm because there's a list of work building in my head.
There's two things that I do at this point. I stay sitting on the couch for a determined amount of time and then get back to work, or I look at what needs to be cleaned around me and start cleaning. Believe it or not, the physical space that you have around you influences how you feel. If everything is cluttered, unorganized and dirty, you're going feel unmotivated. But if there was sunlight entering in your office, shiny tables and neat stacks, you'll be excited to start working.
That is why cleaning is a productive action and I make sure that things are cleaned on a regular basis. If you look at my calendar, I schedule when to clean things because life happens, I will get busy and I will forget. Since I've scheduled it in my calendar I haven't.
The next time you feel BLAH, you will know that you have two choices and try out the cleaning thing. Who knows what will happen.
